1_ROCKS is my first collection. It is a series of portraits of rock formations that I discovered during my travels. I painted these impressive rock monoliths as religious icons, as they were for me giants worthy of being represented as ancient gods. Painted on wooden boards and using several techniques I wanted to give that depth of life and history that all these mountains must have sheltered. On a base layer I trace with pencil, pen or acrylic the shapes of my paintings. I write, I paint, I go over, I transform. Then I spread the thick oil, which will cover the first painting, like the present erases the history to represent only a finished and coherent image of the world. At the end I scrape to reveal the first painting by small touches. These cuts in the oil are open wounds in the rock that allow a glimpse of the hidden stories.

Each painting is a text, a story, feelings, a spark of life, buried, frozen, mummified and hidden in these rock representations. These rocks are the magnificent sarcophagi of life.
